About Jordan
Jordan Taylor first appeared on Echoes shortly
before the Division Bell Tour, offering tour
packages that include Golden Circle tickets
and rooms for any Pink Floyd show through his
company, Planet Earth Management.
At first some of us were suspicious that this
was some kind of a scam, but it turned out
that he delivered exactly what he promised.
A number of Echoesians attended multiple
shows with excellent seats and accommodations
thanks to Jordan.
And then a lot of us got to know Jordan and
learned what a unique and special person he
was. Jordan (or Dean as his family knew him)
was a Canadian from Toronto, but who lived in
the Miami area. He operated PEM for many
years, and was very familiar with a lot of the
premiere bands of the 80's and 90's. He was
also a keen fan of NASA and the space program.
He was a big, tall ginger who, even though
Jewish faith, dearly loved to celebrate
Christmas - as much as any big kid ever!
Come to think about it, he would be the perfect
Santa - if Santa was a ginger.
Jordan was prone to picking up the phone
whenever the notion struck him and calling
friends to engage in long, but interesting
conversation. He was also prescient and
frequently spoke of things that turned out to
come to pass in coming days. And for those
of us fortunate enough to hang with him after
shows, he was an exquisite host and someone
who would engulf everyone in chaos at the
blink of an eye.
He was fiercely loyal to his friends and a
dogged foe to those who wronged him or who
had wronged his friends. Those of you who
did not know Jordan missed an opportunity to
have a great friend. After years of ranting
about cell phones (of that time) causing
cancer, he himself passed as a result of a
brain tumor at the base of his skull. A lot
of us still dearly miss him.

bear recalls: my initial quiet contact with jordan
was about his proposed pem offer for special tour
packages to echoes, said pem offer authenticated
by his provision of nonpublic information and
accurate short term "predictions" before actual
presentation to echoes was allowed.
as an engineer doing wireless i was pretty much
horrified by his constant companion: a handheld
a brick-with-antenna when we met, everytime we
met.
it was with great sadness that i added our friend's
name to my annual wywh note at digest changes.
