rest easy: nothing particularly sinister.
this cod lays the blame squarely at the feet
of some of the young whippersnappers in
my life: the kids and grandkids gave me a
"tell me your life story" blank book, which
led to my "hundred year old breadcrumbs"
effort to show our grands some artwork
by their great great grandfather, which
got me going again on our family geneology,
which led to a new-to-us familymember
(coincidentally, a pf fan) and thence
to a "for more, google echoes faq"
advice...which i tested, disappointingly, and,
well...here we are.

hi all.
well, it looks like 'eclipse' is not going to come back any time soon.
the story i got is that jco has really bailed out.
i was told that 'eclipse' was in imminent danger of being restarted at
a moments notice, but it hasn't happened and i've come to think that
it won't.
my impatience has won out (no doubt over my good sense 8^)
for the interim, i've started the 'echoes' list.
it is available as both a realtime feed and a digest, with 1 per day as
the anticipated rate.
initially everybody is in realtime mode.
the subscription/unsubscription process is automated through a mail
server ('echoserv') which should have sent you a notification of
subscription.
for those wanting to change from realtime to digest mode, you must
send mail with the following commands in the body:
delete {your-mail-address-as-subscribed} echoes
add-digest {your-mail-addressd} echoes
to bail out all together, just send a "delete" command as illustrated
above.
NB: the delete command will (should?) remove you from both the realtime
and digest lists.
if you don't do the delete, you will end up on both the realtime and
digest lists.
time to add the following addresses to your mailers...

OK, here goes some more trivia discussion; hope it doesn't result in a
rash of unsubscribe-me-now-or-I'll-go-crazy messages:
Back in Eclipse-land, Craig Harding mentioned in part:

Well, I listened to the chiming and what I think you might be hearing is
noise from the ringer mechanism or from a malajusted ringer; perhaps one
where the hammer strikes the chime but doesn't retract to allow it to
ring. Since there are multiple clocks chiming, and each seems to have a
different timbre, it is difficult to tell, but I think the sound you are
hearing may occur two or three times, but it is partially masked by other
chime sounds on all but one of the times.
Now moving away from this micro-trivia, is there any more news about this
"auto racing accident involving mason (not hurt), gilmour (cut, but not
seriously hurt), and steve o'rourke (broken leg)"
First, who is Steve O'Rourke? Second, I didn't know Gilmour and Mason
were into auto racing! Gee, race cars are expensive (if they own them).
And if they do, then it's damn near guaranteed that they'll be turning
out more discs to pay for it all!!! Anyone know about this? Are they
racing on their own, or for someone else?

In the inside cover of the Mason/Fenn Profiles album, there are
pictures of Mason's racing cars. He also collects classic cars, I
believe.

They seem to refer to marijuana as 'Pink Floyd'!
A friend of mine told me that's what they call it there and some Brits
think that's where the band got its name; not vice-versa.
(Of course we all know Syd got the name from a couple blues artists,
Pink Anderson and Floyd Council)
True or False? (If false, why do the Young Ones call it Pink Floyd?)
I guess that brings up another question- did the people from England
get onto this list?

Wasn't it Rick's lecturrer who said that?
The quote was something like:

followed by a dopey grin and chuckle.
