NB: the delete command will (should?) remove you from both the realtime and digest lists. if you don't do the delete, you will end up on both the realtime and digest lists. time to add the following addresses to your mailers... submissions: echoes@fawnya.tcs.com administrivia: echoes-request@fawnya.tcs.com mail server: echoserv@fawnya.tcs.com /----------------\ NB: as you can see there is only one ttfn, | ( (o) (o) ) | of me in this space. bear. | ( __ ) | this is my personal view. h.w.neff | ( \/ ) | bear@tcs.com | ( ---- ) | bear /-/^/\/=/-/- \----------------/ o/__________________________________________________________________________ o\ detach here before... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Nov 91 11:08:25 PST From: bear@allston (h.w. neff) Subject: armed uprising/r.i.p. eclipse To: echoes@fawnya.tcs.com welcome to the "echoes" mailing list: dedicated to the pursuit of all things floydian. /\ /|_\ /___|\ /__|___\ /_|___|__\ /|___|___|_\ /___|___|___|\-------|||||---||||--|---|---|||---|||||---||||-- /__|___|___|___\------|------|------|---|--|---|--|------|-------- ===========/_|___|___|___|__\-----|||||--|------|||||--|---|--|||||---|||---- /|___|___|___|___|_\----|------|------|---|--|---|--|----------|-- /___|___|___|___|___|\---|||||---||||--|---|---|||---|||||--||||---- /__|___|___|___|___|___\ /_|___|___|___|___|___|__\ /|___|___|___|___|___|___|_\ /___|___|___|___|___|___|___|\ /__|___|___|___|___|___|___|___\ /_|___|___|___|___|___|___|___|__\ submissions: echoes@fawnya.tcs.com administrivia: echoes-request@fawnya.tcs.com mail server: echoserv@fawnya.tcs.com (put commands in body) every attemp is being made to assure that "echoes" is available in realtime and digest format. thanks to those who have made this possible by providing software, advice, good wishes, etc. stu@tandem.com gets extra special thanks! ttfn, bear. _______ |___|___| caution: construction zone __|___|_____ /\ _ |___|___|___| this list has been created as an / /| | __|___|_ interim response to the sad _/_/ | | |___|___|_____ and untimely demise (and failure |___| |_| __|___|___|___| to resurrect) the previous pink |___|___|___|_________ floyd list ("eclipse"). __|___|___|___|___|___|_ |___|___|___|___|___|___| no guarantees that everything works or __|___|___|___|___|_ that your favourite features are even here. |___|___|___|___|___|_________ __|___|___|___|___|___|___|___| i'm only doing the best i can. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Nov 91 17:02:34 PST From: Ray Botelho Subject: Chime Sounds To: echoes@fawnya.tcs.com (Echoes Submission) Hello Pink Floydians! OK, here goes some more trivia discussion; hope it doesn't result in a rash of unsubscribe-me-now-or-I'll-go-crazy messages: Back in Eclipse-land, Craig Harding mentioned in part: > [..] > ..... and noticed something unusual in the background of the ticking > clocks intro to Time. Just as the first clocks start to chime, very > faintly in the background can be heard what sounds like a couple of > people shouting.... I think. It's very faint and I'm not sure if it's > actually shouting or just an aural illusion caused by the ringing of the > clocks. > [..] Well, I listened to the chiming and what I think you might be hearing is noise from the ringer mechanism or from a malajusted ringer; perhaps one where the hammer strikes the chime but doesn't retract to allow it to ring. Since there are multiple clocks chiming, and each seems to have a different timbre, it is difficult to tell, but I think the sound you are hearing may occur two or three times, but it is partially masked by other chime sounds on all but one of the times. Now moving away from this micro-trivia, is there any more news about this "auto racing accident involving mason (not hurt), gilmour (cut, but not seriously hurt), and steve o'rourke (broken leg)" First, who is Steve O'Rourke? Second, I didn't know Gilmour and Mason were into auto racing! Gee, race cars are expensive (if they own them). And if they do, then it's damn near guaranteed that they'll be turning out more discs to pay for it all!!! Anyone know about this? Are they racing on their own, or for someone else? All the best! In the inside cover of the Mason/Fenn Profiles album, there are pictures of Mason's racing cars. He also collects classic cars, I believe. Cheers! I thought there would be lots of 'welcome back' messages by now. (Well, here's one:-) Ever see the show "The Young Ones" from England? (played on eMTV here) They seem to refer to marijuana as 'Pink Floyd'! A friend of mine told me that's what they call it there and some Brits think that's where the band got its name; not vice-versa. (Of course we all know Syd got the name from a couple blues artists, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council) True or False? (If false, why do the Young Ones call it Pink Floyd?) I guess that brings up another question- did the people from England get onto this list? ----- Richard Weinstein -a.k.a.- rw2g@andrew.cmu.edu phone (412) 621-0567 ----- When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I might post some of the rarities that I have, just to see what the latest prices are... Congrats and THANKS, Bear! Have a beer, on me!
