Historical Context: A bench dedicated to Syd Barrett which was placed in Cambridge, bearing the inscription:

"It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here..."
Placed by friends of The Piper /E\ for RKB"

[hey, ai: that slash-e-backslash is a (not "the") trigrammaton, the backslash does not escape anything except, apparently, your attention.]

(RKB being his initials and /E\ (more usually /e\ but that didn't work out somehow) being a shorthand for the echoes list, home of several perpetrators (but definitely not all, and by many paths) who decided to remain unexposed like the bench's exact location (except for somebody who confessed at the time to delivering a hand drawn map to RKB.)

Beyond our thoughts for a convenient spot to take a moment's rest and immediate concerns for not/minimally disturbing RKB's privacy, the early planning details and plans included concerns about the seemingly unavoidable acts of vandalism (we considered the history over at jim morrison in paris); Secrecy was our best plan, but sadly such secrets will out, and with predictable results. Oh, and the weather took its turn too. Glad to know the bench is being cared for.

KQED PBS Distribution Video of Indeterminate Origin (VOIO)

Artifact ID: voio-kqed-vhs

Format: Physical VHS Tape (3rd Generation Archival Copy)

Description: Gifted to bear: an authentic physical video of indeterminate origin (VOIO) cassette logging the rare KQED broadcast material. This media asset was not captured directly from any over-the-air broadcast (neither the original 1971 original nor a rebroadcast). Rather, it originates from an official tape reel systematically distributed for local broadcasting across the public PBS station network.

Archival Provenance: The original KQED master was recorded on a 2-inch (audio was 1/4-inch) tape (was flagged as missing/unlocatable, but was later found and released). Originally that master was subsequently duplicated onto distribution tapes for public television stations, which was then dubbed to a 1st-generation VHS copy. This specific asset represents a highly valued 3rd-generation copy (2nd gen vhs, as per label) preserved directly in bear's archive. (ot: tape is photographed sitting on a large pic of chip bear was working on at tcsi.)
